(KMOV) -- A rally on the Eads Bridge kept traffic away, but they're hoping it will mean brighter days ahead.
Memebers of the NAACP called for more minority hiring for the New Mississippi River Bridge project. The group wants women and minorities to make up at least 30 percent of the work force.
MoDOT and IDOT said in a joint statement that 28 percent of their workforce is made up of women and minorities, well above the 21 percent required by federal law.
Thirty percent of I-64 project workers were minorities, and the NAACP pointed to that as a reason to make the move.
