(KMOV)—Wednesday evening’s severe storms caused a massive sinkhole and flooding damage in Cool Valley.
The sinkhole developed when a corrugated pipe carrying storm water beneath the asphalt collapsed in the parking lot of the Sciortino Chirporactic office at 1701 South Florissant Road.
Dr. David Sciortino talked to the Metropolitan Sewer District and the Missouri Department of Transportation. Both MoDOT and MSD are saying the other is responsible for the repairs.
The sinkhole is about 100 feet long, 20 feet wide with a two to five foot drop.
Next door, Dwight Rez’s Auto Shop flooded after too much water came through that same pipe and into this drainage ditch, overflowed the culvert and carried mud inside.
Rez says there’s too much water running off the highway and into Cool Valley.
