ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The online edition of the St. Louis Globe-Democrat is losing its sports staff.
Sports editor Rob Rains announced Tuesday the entire sports staff of Globe-Democrat.com had resigned effective Wednesday to pursue other opportunities, leaving the future of the website in doubt. Staffers have not been paid since May 15.
Rains worked at the old Globe-Democrat newspaper, which folded twice. In December 1985, the paper ceased production after staffers weren't paid much of the final three months, and new owners closed the paper for good in October 1986.
Daniel Rositano brought the Globe name back last December and is president and publisher.
