(KMOV) - - The recent heavy rain across Missouri and Illinois is causing beginning to cause flooding problems.

Thunderstorms dumped five inches of rain in Louisiana, Missouri which is leading to a muddy mess.

Some residents say the flood was so powerful that the high waters pushed a car several blocks down a road. Several businesses and restaurants are surrounded by high waters.

Currently, the Mississippi river is above flood stage in Louisiana and the waters are expected to climb.

In St. Louis, river levels are approaching flood stage.
