(KMOV) – Police are searching for a man wanted for a murder committed in Pine Lawn.  Authorities say Devarick Thompson, 27, killed Joey Richmond on June 16.

Police say Richmond knew his alleged attacker. On the day of the murder, Thompson reportedly called Richmond and asked him to meet him at a home on Ravenwood in Pine Lawn.

The two are said to have had a stormy past, but despite that, the pair agreed to make up the day of the murder. But instead of pleasantries, police say Thompson pulled out a gun and shot Richmond four times.

Later that day, investigators say a man named Brian Brooks, who was helping police with Richmond’s murder, was then killed by a man named Edro Odom for talking to police.

Lieutenant Daniel O’Connor says the crimes are connected. Odom is Thompson’s stepfather.

Police say Odom confessed to the crime and even led them to the murder weapon which was tossed into a sewer.

Thompson has been charged with 1st degree murder but is still on the run.

Police are still looking for Devarick Thompson Jr. He was wearing an ankle bracelet on the day of the Ravenwood killing, but he took it off later that day. If you see Thompson, call the police immediately.

There is a $1,000 reward for information surrounding this case.
