(KMOV) – As many as 30 detectives are on the case and police are searching for multiple suspects after a 23-year-old man was found shot in a vehicle in St. Charles on Tuesday.

St. Charles Police Lt. Mike Akers said a vehicle was located on the Cave Springs Road overpass just south of Interstate 70 around 11 p.m. Tuesday. Inside the vehicle police found Daniel Christopher Brennan, 23, with a gunshot wound.

Investigators said he was shot somewhere else in St. Charles, and drove to the location he was found.

Brennan was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Lt. Akers said police were able to talk to Brennan before he died, but he kept slipping in and out of consciousness.

Family members say Brennan was shot at an apartment complex while attending a party. They believe it was an attempted robbery.

Brennan’s family says they believe that Brennan may have tried to talk his way out of the robbery, but was instead shot in the right shoulder.

Anyone with information in reference to this case should contact the Major Case Squad at 636-949-3564 or callers can remain anonymous by calling the Crime Stoppers hotline at 636-949-3333.
