Charlack camera stirs controversy

(KMOV) – A speed camera in Charlack is the center of a growing controversy about whether or not individual communities should use them.

The camera, located on I-170, operates in the daytime and is taken down in the evening.

Tickets are issued in the mail and cost about $100.

Some authorities say individual communities should not be allowed to use speed cameras.

Charlack’s police chief defends the camera, saying it’s a well-known program.

Others say the camera is just a money grab.
