(KMOV)-- The Major Case Squad has confirmed that Paul Smith is connected to the murder of a Hawk Point business owner. A gun found at Paul Smith's home in Hawk Point matches the same murder weapon used on Jeffery Smith.

Jeffery Smith, 40, was found lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head outside Smitty's Garage on 205 Highway A at around 11:330 p.m. Saturday. Jeffery Smith was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Jeffery Smith owned Smitty's Garage and was a long time resident and business owner in Lincoln County.

Investigators say over the past 6 days about 200 leads came in. The biggest break happened on Wednesday when they went to 309 Highway D to confront Paul Smith regarding the kidnapping of Alisa Maier. As police approached Paul Smith, he shot and killed himself.

A search warrant was executed and another gun, besides the one Paul Smith used to shoot himself, was found. That gun matched the same type and caliber used to kill Jeffery.

More tests will be conducted over the next several weeks.

Police are not ruling out if any other suspects were involved.
