(KMOV) – Police are investigating a homicide in north St. Louis.
It happened around 2:00 a.m. on Thursday at Hebert and North 23rd which is near North Florissant Road.
St. Louis police say that Sherrell Austin, 21, was shot to death.
Austin was in a car with three friends at the time of the shooting. Police say that Austin and her friends were stopped by a grey or green four-door vehicle at the intersection of Herbert and 23rd.
That's when police say a black man in his 20s got out of the vehicle and approached Austin's vehicle. The suspect reportedly pulled out a gun and ordered Austin and her friends to get out of their car.
Police say Austin and the suspect got into an argument. That's when the suspect allegedly shot Austin in the chest.
She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police are still investigating this case.
