Widespread showers, storms hit St. Louis area

(KMOV) – Another round of widespread showers hit the St. Louis area on Friday, with some parts getting storms, according to News 4 Meteorologist Kent Ehrhardt.

Friday morning started off with temperatures near 50 degrees, with scattered light showers impacting the morning drive mainly in the western portions of the News 4 viewing area.

But those showers were expected to be more numerous and widespread by the afternoon.

“We will even see a chance for thunderstorms,” said Ehrhardt. “Those will most likely hit in areas to the south of St. Louis.”

The scattered showers and thunderstorms will most likely linger into the evening, though Ehrhardt said they should be of the calmer variety.

“Severe storms are not likely,” he said.

Looking forward, Saturday will also see the chances for lingering showers.

“By Saturday evening we only have a slight chance for a shower or two, and most of the rain will be ending,” Ehrhardt said.
