(KMOV) – Police were called to an O’Fallon, Ill. grade school after a student found a shotgun shell in the hallway Monday afternoon.
Police say an unidentified person found a .410 shotgun shell on the floor of the Joseph Arthur Middle School during a passing period.
The person notified the school’s principal, Jered Weh, who then contacted the school’s resource officer, Jamie Kilquist. He determined there was no threat to the building, staff or students.
After an administrative search of the building, no weapons or other ammunition of any kind were found.
Central School District #104 Superintendent John Bute commended the O’Fallon Police Department and their quick response to the school.
“We have an excellent working relationship with the O’Fallon Police Department and appreciate the quick response of SRO Kilquist.”
