SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (KMOV) -- Some local restaurants may soon have to change their menus.

Illinois lawmakers voted Wednesday on a bill that would forbid restaurants from serving any food made with artificial trans fats.
Some businesses, like McDonald's, Wendy’s and Krispy Kreme, have already taken the trans fats out of their foods.
Others, though, think the government has gone too far with the ban, and would have two years to get rid of menu items that are made the ingredients.
Vending machines would also have to abide by the ban.
California and New York have already passed similar legislature.
Artificial trans fats have been linked to heart disease, high blood pressure and obesity. They are found in margarine and vegetable shortening.
