Water main flushing causes discolored water in some St. Louis areas

(KMOV)--Some St. Louis areas are experiencing discolored water after a water main flushing.

According to Missouri American Water in a statement released Monday, some customers in Clayton and University City will see a slight discoloration in their water this afternoon. 

On Sunday, Missouri American Water crews repaired a 30 inch diameter water main break in University City, and crews are now flushing out fire hydrants

Authorities say they have tested the water and it is good to drink.  

The water main flushing is almost complete.

Authorities advise customers to run their faucets for a few moments the water color should return to normal.
