ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Parents of children enrolled in a north St. Louis daycare expressed deep concern after they say they were not properly notified of a shooting that took place near Tiny 2 Childcare.

Authorities received multiple calls for shots fired around 1:30 p.m. Monday in the area of Natural Bridge and Kingshighway, Goodfellow and Natural Bridge, the 5800 block of Ferris and the 5800 block of McArthur.

This shooting happened shortly before the children were to go outside and play, and parents say they were totally unaware of what happened until they came to pick up their children.

According to officials, there was some sort of running gun battle that broke out Monday afternoon.  A scene was located in the 5800 block of McArthur but no victim was located. A short time later a male victim showed up at an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

There were a lot of shots fired by all the shell casing markers that were about 100 feet away from Tiny 2 Childcare.

Workers say no children were outside at the time, and no one was notified because no children or staff members were hurt.

Even though all the children were sheltered, one parent says he will be removing his child immediately because of the incident.

There are no suspects in the shooting.

Police at one point thought a gun had been tossed into the playground, but police say they did search and did not find a weapon.
