(KMOV)-- MoDOT is calling on you to help them pick up litter. The annual No More Trash Bash, as they call it, is going on all month.
MoDOT crews and volunteers picked up trash around 7th and Park on Monday.
Engineers with MoDOT said it spends about $5 million a year cleaning up litter along highways across the state.
"It's also really to get people's attention to quit littering. We're spending a huge amount of money to clean up St. Louis and we could really be using that money for something else if people would stop throwing this stuff out on the highway," said MoDOT District Engineer Ed Hassinger.
During last year's No More Trash Bash, volunteers filled more than 128,000 bags from litter they picked up along the roads.
