(KMOV)-- An electrical fire on the St. Louis University campus forced an evacuation of more than 900 students Sunday.
Griesedieck Hall lost power, but even after it was restored around 9:00 p.m., SLU officials told students they needed to leave the dormitory.
The Dean of Students told the SLU newspaper that a fire captain recommended students find somewhere else to go for the night.
The students were allowed back inside once power came back on to grab what they needed to spend the night somewhere else. The university set up some beds at one of SLU’s retreat centers and some booked some hotels near campus.
The building, which many refer to as “Greez Hall,” is one most St. Louisans likely recognize. It sits in the heart of the SLU campus and has 16 stories of living space.
As of Monday morning, the students have not been allowed inside the building again.
