COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMOV) -- Mizzou Head Football Coach Gary Pinkel will stay with the university until 2017.
The Missouri Board of Curators approved Friday a two-year contract extension for Pinkel, keeping him on the sidelines until December 31.
His previous contract was set to expire Dec. 31, 2015.
Under the new terms set by curators, Mizzou will pay an additional $100 thousand to Pinkel’s annuity. The board also increased the salary pool for assistant football coaches to $2.62 million, up from $2.1 million.
Pinkel’s guaranteed salary is currently $2.35 million.
Over the last four years, Pinkel has overseen one of the most successful stretches in Missouri history.
He has helped Mizzou win 40 games from 2007-2010, a figure which ranks as the 10th-highest win total in the nation during that period.
With Pinkel’s guidance, Mizzou has been to six consecutive bowl games. His teams have also won 10 games or more in three of the last four seasons.
