(101 ESPN) - There has been a lot made of the low attendance figures around Major League Baseball in this, the early part of the 2011 season. Here in St. Louis, the crowds at Busch Stadium have, at times, been sparse. Not as sparse as they have been in Florida or Cincinnati, but at the same time not what we are used to seeing when it comes to Cardinals baseball.
Buster Olney wrote about the attendance issue on ESPN.com. Bernie Miklasz of 101 ESPN and the Post-Dispatch wrote about it as well. There are a few reasons why attendance is off. The weather is a factor in some places. The economy is a factor everywhere. Another thing you have to remember is that watching the game from home, given all the advances in modern technology, is also a reason people are not heading to the ballpark...
