Police: Suspect displays handgun during Cahokia bank robbery

(KMOV) – A U.S. Bank inside a Cahokia grocery store was robbed Tuesday morning.

The incident happened around 10:45 a.m. at the Cahokia Schnucks located at 1615 Camp Jackson Road.

According to Cahokia police, the suspect walked into the bank and displayed a silver/chrome plated handgun and demanded money from the teller.

The teller complied and the suspect got away with an unknown amount of money.

Cahokia police say the suspect may have left the scene in a black Mercury Marquis.

The suspect is described as a black man with a dark complexion, around six feet tall with a stocky build. He had an unshaven look and was last seen wearing a black brim style hat, black sunglasses, a black coat with a hood and black clothing.

Photos of the suspect were captured on the bank's surveillance cameras.
