(KMOV.com) – Right-hander Kyle McClellan takes the mound tonight as a member of the Cardinals starting rotation.

It’s a new role and a new opportunity for the St. Louis native.

McClellan was 1-4 in 2010 with a 2.27 and 2 saves in 75 innings pitched.

He will square off against James McDonald who had a 3.52 ERA in eleven starts last year after being traded from the Dodgers.  A side injury cost McDonald some starts in spring training, and MLB.com indicates he probably will not go more than 100 pitches tonight.

First pitch – 7:15 p.m.
