(KMOV) --A Pevely, Missouri man has been charged with murder after a shooting in Jefferson County.
Earl Francis Ealey has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Donald Horrell of St. Louis.
Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in the 1800 block of State Route Z around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday. They were called to investigate reports of a shooting.
When authorities arrived, they found the victim lying in the driveway. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the victim is from the Festus area.
Authorities say the victim and his wife are estranged from each other. According to police, the victim was going to return his estranged wife's vehicle to a location other than her home. Police say the victim insisted on knowing his wife's whereabouts. When the victim found out where she was, police say he got into an argument with her. The estranged wife reportedly asked the victim to leave and he did.
Police say the victim returned a short time later and got into another argument with his estranged wife and several others. The argument escalated and the victim was shot.
Ealey was taken into custody at the scene.
He is being held on $250,000 bond.
