Illinois man, teenager allegedly used Facebook to commit burglaries

(KMOV)-- Police in southern Illinois have arrested a man and teenager for eight burglaries, but they say they are not the only ones to blame.
West Frankfort police say several of the crimes were only committed after people updated their Facebook statuses, in essence telling crooks they were away from home.
Gene Caraker, 31, and an accomplice, 15, allegedly burglarized three homes, along with four businesses and a church.
In one specific case, the suspects noticed when someone updated a status on Facebook, which showed the person was leaving for church. While that person was at church, police say Caraker went to the home and stole things.
This is not a new idea. A Google search of Facebook and burglary brings up thousands of cases where people unintentionally made themselves vulnerable on Facebook by updating their statuses.
