(KMOV) – Much like the Energizer Bunny, fall school supply lists seem to just keep going and going. Some school districts across the area are putting everything from paper towels to reams of copy paper on supply lists.
In many cases, school districts are no longer buying all the supplies that students and teachers need, so parents and teachers have to reach deeper into their pockets.
Melinda Ice, an administrator in the Parkway School District says she spent 19 years in the classroom, and that there are a lot of districts that just don’t have the money.
“There have been times when I’ve saved receipts and I’m up in the $800 realm.
She says parents have valid concerns, but schools are no less vulnerable in the recession.
