(KMOV) – One person suffered only minor injuries after a house exploded and caught fire Saturday in Wildwood, Mo.
Authorities said crews responded to a house fire in Wildwood at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Captain John Bradley of the Metro West Fire Protection District said the homeowners evacuated the house after seeing a sizeable fire.
“The homeowners stated they heard [a] large pop in their house," Bradley said. "They were watching TV in a back bedroom.”
The fire had mostly engulfed the house when fire fighters showed up, but they were able to put it out within 15 minutes. The house suffered heavy smoke and heat damage.
The home was in what’s called a “no-water” area, so crews had to truck in their own water to fight the fire. Crews also had to deal with further safety issues such as hydration due to the excessive heat.
Investigators said the fire was accidental and called the house “a complete loss.” One person was treated and released at the scene for minor injuries sustained from the fire.
