(KMOV) – St. Louis City workers went to 500 homes on Wednesday to check on the health of senior citizens during this deadly heat.
On Tuesday, city workers called 2,000 elderly residents who may need some type of assistance keeping cool – the 500 who did not answer were the ones who received a home visit on Wednesday.
These visits come less than a week after a 68-year-old died in the heat.
If you or someone you know does not have air conditioning, there are two important phone numbers to know. Calling 2-1-1 will connect you to the United Way. Cool Down St. Louis can help with energy bills and installing air conditioners; they can be reached at 314-241-7668.
