(KMOV) – Severe winds from a brief storm caused major damage in Wentzville Tuesday evening. The strong winds knocked a tractor-trailer over and onto a car on Interstate 70 at Highway A in Wentzville. Witnesses say the car was barely visible following the accident, and that strong winds from a brief storm may have been responsible for the damage. State police say the driver of the vehicle survived. There are also reports of strong winds causing downed power lines, leading to power outages at nearly 7,000 homes.
Winds were also responsible for blowing off a roof to a home in the 1100 block of Oakley in Wentzville’s Stone Crest subdivision near Interstate 70. There was no one in the home at the time.
Other homes in the area had more damage as pieces of siding and wood crashed into windows, cars and garage doors.
