Connect With...Spotlight: Gateway Council of Hostelling International

The 47th Annual Moonlight Ramble®, held August 21-22, 2010, is a signature fundraising event for the Gateway Council of Hostelling International. Beginning from the Muny Opera in Forest Park just one minute past midnight, more than 10,000 riders will follow a short (9 miles) or a long (19 miles) route through the streets of Saint Louis City and County. Family-friendly activities before and after the ride, commemorative T-shirts, and the chance to be part of a unique spectacle draw recreational cyclists of all ages and skill levels, many returning year after year.

The Gateway Council of Hostelling International is a nonprofit organization dedicated "to help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling." Hostelling is an opportunity to experience greater intercultural awareness while benefiting from low-budget accommodations. Proceeds from the Moonlight Ramble® support community-oriented services, including low-cost outdoor recreational activities for the entire family, low budget travel services, and educational programs teaching cultural competency. The Gateway Council is also diligently working to develop the Mullanphy Emigrant Home into a world-class hostel to attract an influx of hostellers and international visitors to see the beauty of St. Louis.

Tickets to the 2010 Moonlight Ramble® are $125 Premier, $30 Adults, $15 Scouts and Teens ages 12-17, and $10 Children ages 5-12.
