(KMOV) – An out-of-control bar brawl in Collinsville sent three people to the hospital with stab wounds. Another seven are in the Madison County jail.
Two of the injured victims have been released from the hospital and are doing okay. However, the third victim is in stable, but critical condition.
Investigators say this started with a large fight that broke out in the parking lot of the Perez Cantina along the 5900 block of Collinsville Road, a place that is somewhat popular with the local Hispanic population.
A wild scene early Sunday morning called for the sheriff, Illinois State Police and Collinsville police to respond and make arrests.
The attackers allegedly used knives and broken bottles, and at one point, police say a machete and a sawed off shotgun were flashed during the brawl.
When it was finally over, seven men were under arrest. All of them are reportedly from St. Louis, and all are in their 20s, except for a 17-year-old.
The charges ranged from unlawful use of a weapon to aggravated battery and mob action.
All of those arrested are being held on various bond amounts, the highest at $75,000. The investigation is ongoing.
