Distracted drivers become big danger on the roads

(KMOV)—The Federal Department of Transportation is trying to educate the public about the dangers of distracted drivers.

According to accident reports, the latest figures show that six-thousand people are killed and more than half a million were injured yearly in crashes that were caused by drivers texting, talking or taking their eyes off the road.
 
Town and Country police say it is a big problem for them, with the six miles of interstate in the area, there have been five-hundred accidents this year and more than a third were caused by distracted driving. 
 
The second most common cause of accidents is following too closely.
