After weeks of planning and raising money, a group of about 16 people led by Central West End business owner Dennis Gorg, the Gulf caravan is underway.
They'll hit dozens of communities in three states... MIssissippi, Alabama and Florida... where some small businesses have seen their customer base drop 80%.
Gorg's crew says the goal isn't so much to draw attention to themselves, but how the crisis is not over for businesses and perhaps more people will do what they're doing.
They've collected around $20,000 and they'll use it to buy souvenirs to bring back to the people who gave them the money.
They know this goodwill mission will not on its own turn business around for those suffering, but it's a start.
Check back at kmov.com for updates on this group's travels. Dennis Gorg says he'll send us pictures each day showing us where they are and what they're up to.
They're supposed to get back home late Friday night.
