ST. LOUIS, Mo. (AP) -- Middle linebacker James Laurinaitis was productive and durable his first year with St. Louis, setting a Rams rookie record with a team-leading 144 tackles.
This year, he expects to be even better.
A second-round pick out of Ohio State, Laurinaitis was a bright spot last year in the Rams' 1-15 season. He was credited with 146 tackles, including 98 solo stops, and two sacks, earning him team rookie of the year honors.
But Laurinaitis remembers 2009 as a pressure-packed whirlwind of the NFL Combine, the draft, rookie minicamp and training camp, and finally the season.
He's more at ease in camp this year, knowing how much conditioning he needs to get through training. Laurinaitis says being in good condition makes it possible to handle the demands.
