(KMOV) -- News 4 has learned a suspect wanted for a fatal carjacking has been captured.
20-year-old Lason Elliot was taken into custody late Wednesday after being on the run for months for the murder of Martin Lampe of Maplewood.
In March, Lampe was shot twice during a carjacking at the Route 3 Fuel and Lottery Convenience Store in Sauget. He was sitting in the front passenger seat of a 2002 Chevrolet Impala when the incident happened. After being shot, Lampe was shoved from the vehicle and fled the lot in the Impala, heading toward the St. Louis area. The vehicle was later recovered in the 800 block of Gustav in St. Louis.
Lason Elliot is charged with first degree murder.
