(KMOV) – There's a new way to cool off coming to north St. Louis.

Mayor Francis Slay and other St. Louis City leaders broke ground on the new O’Fallon Recreational Center in north St. Louis on Wednesday.

The two story, 79,000 square ft. building cost $23 million.

City leaders say the project is being built with 40 percent minority participation.

The center will open in December 2011.
