(KMOV) – A Hillsboro, Missouri man has been charged for stabbing his wife to death in a parking garage at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur.

Christopher Colletta, 38, was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of armed criminal action.

Investigators believe the stabbing happened around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday on the top floor of the hospital's parking garage. Mary Colletta, 30, was found around 6:00 p.m. outside of her car. The mother of two was an employee of the hospital.

The Major Case Squad said Christopher Colletta voluntarily turned himself in and admitted to stabbing his wife to death.

Police sources are saying the incident may be the result of a domestic dispute. Mary Colletta recently had a restraining order against Christopher.

In the restraining order Mary Colletta stated that on July 2, "My alcoholic husband threatened to harm me and said I could never get away from him. He grabbed my arm and in the process scratched my face. He also blocked my car from leaving."

On June 7, another incident happened where she said he pushed her and headbutted her because she made him angry.

On June 9 she said "He grabbed me by the arms and shoved me.  We went to the neighbors that night."

She said the worst incident was August 2. She said, "He physically assaulted me and chased me. Officers were called. He was arrested, leaving me with many bruises. I fear for my safety and my life. I now have the courage to divorce him, but I'm so afraid he's going to get me."
