(KMOV) -- Police are investigating after an early morning house fire in University City.
It happened around 5:00 a.m. on Friday at a home in the 1400 block of 78th Street.
A University City police officer tells News 4 that the fire was allegedly started by a 39-year-old man who lived at this with his mother.
The officer says the man poured gasoline throughout his bedroom, his mom's bedroom, and the living room and set it on fire.
The mother was able to escape unharmed. The man is currently in a local hospital in critical condition.
No word yet on any charges in this case.
A neighbor described their relationship as not only mother-son but like brother-sister, very close.
