(KMOV) -- They're moving out some two-million books and millions of other items from the downtown St. Louis library.

All of the items are going to a storage warehouse for the next year and a half to two years while a $70-million renovation and restoration takes place.

Local, state and federal tax money along with private donations are footing the bill for the project.

The downtown St. Louis library will be 100 years old when it's reopened in 2012.

Everything taken out during the remodel, will be returned to it.
