(KMOV)-- A music legend performed in St. Louis Thursday evening.

Chuck Berry headlined a free concert aimed at bringing the 2012 Democratic National Convention to St. Louis. Berry sang several classics, at times the crowd sang along. After Berry left the stage St. Louis native Nellie made a cameo appearance. Both acts were crowd pleasers, but the acts were aimed at a select group of people - members of the DNC. It's too early to tell how St. Louis did, a decision isn't expected until later this year. St. Louis stepped up police patrols around the event, portions of Market Street were closed to traffic.

Cleveland, Minneapolis and Charlotte, N.C. are also in the running for the 2012 DNC.
