ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A former St. Louis-area police officer has admitted to federal crimes for luring escorts to his town, then sexually assaulting and robbing them.
The former Uplands Park officer, 32-year-old Leon Pullen of Foley, Mo., pleaded guilty to nine counts on Wednesday in U.S. District Court in St. Louis. He could face up to life in prison at sentencing on Oct. 15.
Federal prosecutors say that on four occasions last year, Pullen answered Internet ads and arranged to meet women and pay for sex.
When they showed up, Pullen, wearing clothing identifying himself as a police officer, forced the women to perform sex acts, then took money and belongings.
Phone messages left with Pullen's attorneys were not returned.
