Schlogl would have been a senior at McCluer North High School this fall, according to Ferguson-Florissant School district officials. Previously, Schlogl attended Trinity Catholic High School but withdrew in November, 2009.

Schlogl died early Monday morning while boating with friends at Lake Saint Louis. Police say Schlogl went for a swim as the boat returned to the dock at Woodlands Marina. Friends on the boat told police that they lost sight of Schlogl. Rescuers were called just before 1 a.m. By 4 a.m., they recovered the body of Cole Schlogl.

Police say the group of friends were drinking alcohol. One person faces a boating while intoxicated charge.

Lake Saint Louis' police chief said in a statement, "This appears to have been a very, very tragic accident."

The Ferguson-Florissant School district said, "Every student is part of the Ferguson-Florissant family and our thoughts are with Cole's family at this time."
