Life Guard Hit by Stray Bullet

We're in O'Fallon, MO right now.  Sunday night a 16-year-old girl was struck in the leg by a bullet.  Police believe it was a stray bullet and are now asking for anyone with information to call them.

A witness told us the girl was struck in the thigh.  There are several young children at this neighborhood pool in the Twin Chimneys subdivision.  That would mean that the bullet would be about face-high to a toddler.  Police say it's fortunate that a youngster wasn't involved.

No one in the area reported hearing a shot so police believe the bullet traveled a considerable distance.

There's an open field to the north and northwest of the pool.  It's believed the shot came from that direction.

If you have info you're asked to call Det. Dean Frye at O'Fallon PD: 636.379.5579
