ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis has reached its $100 million "Gateway for Greatness" fundraising campaign, and it did so two years early.
The university said Monday that more than 25,000 donors have contributed to the campaign that has now raised $102 million. The original goal deadline was 2012.
Chancellor Tom George says that despite the difficult economy, donors know how much the university means to the region. Nearly 80 percent of UMSL alumni live and work in the St. Louis area.
The campaign will continue through 2012 and the university hopes to raise even more money.
