Woman robbed at gunpoint on Washington Avenue overnight

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Authorities are searching for a man who robbed a woman at gunpoint early Friday morning in downtown St. Louis.

Police say a man, armed with a gun, exited the driver’s side of the vehicle and approached a woman in the 1800 block of Washington Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Police say the suspect demanded the victim’s purse, which she gave him, before fleeing the scene.

The woman was not harmed during the robbery.

Police describe the suspect as a black man in his 20’s, approximately 6-foot-tall and 135 pounds. Authorities say the man was wearing all black clothing at the time of the robbery.

 

Police say they stepped up patrols in downtown St. Louis after a man was beaten and robbed by a group of teenagers in the 300 block of North 10th Street on Nov. 3.
