CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A man stealing a pair of sweatpants knocked a security guard to the ground at the Chesterfield Mall Macy’s. The strong-arm robbery happened Monday, Chesterfield Police said.
Police said the man slipped the sweatpants over his clothing and made a run for the door. A security guard attempted to stop the thief, but fell to the ground. He was not injured.
The incident marks the second strong-arm robbery to take place at a local mall in a few weeks. In October, a man approached a 77-year-old woman and threatened to shoot her if she did not hand over her purse. He was later arrested and charged.
Recent cases serve as a reminder for shoppers to remain on alert, especially during the holiday season.
"We're walking out. Not really thinking about it. They can grab our bags and run. It's super easy, rather than breaking in to our homes," shopper Kristen Zoroufchy said.
