ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – An investigation is underway after the 132nd homicide of the year was reported late Wednesday night in west St. Louis.

Damon Lovett, 17, was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound just before 10:00 p.m. near the intersection of Etzel and Skinker.

Witnesses told police they saw unknown occupants of a vehicle firing at a group of people that were running in the 1100 block of Hodiamont, then west on Etzel. Witnesses say they saw Lovett continue running to Skinker.

Authorities say Lovett sustained gunshot wounds to the face and torso.

Police say there have been 31 homicides in St. Louis City since Oct. 1, with arrests being made in only eight of those cases.

So far, St. Louis has had 12 more homicides than all of 2013.
