EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – School officials in Missouri and Illinois have changed their cold weather protocol following last winter.
Officials on both sides of the river told News 4 they have extended the number of emergency days available. In Edwardsville the number of emergency days was extended from five to seven, both Collinsville and Parkway have 10 emergency days to use.
The Collinsville and Parkway school districts also have delayed start times this year.
All school districts News 4 spoke with said that keeping buses warm during cold snaps is critical. The bus companies said they are using a new warming system where the buses huddle together while plugged in to keep them ready for use.
