(KMOV.com) – Police say 43-year-old Omar Vazquez pleaded guilty this week for a fatal hit and run that killed a Kirkwood man.
Officials say Vazquez could face up to four years in prison for leaving the scene after he hit 50-year-old Joseph Auffenberg while he was walking home from Walgreens in February.
A $15,000 reward was offered to find the person responsible for killing Auffenberg. Police say the van involved was caught on a nearby surveillance camera.
Authorities said they located the van Vazquez was driving by inspecting over 200 vans in the area of the same make, model, and similar color; they also said they were able to eliminate over 95% of similar type vans in the St. Louis area. Police located the vehicle in March and then arrested Vazquez.
