ST. LOUIS — The Cardinals begin their 2015 season against the Cubs at Wrigley Field in Chicago, and Friday MLB announced the event just got bigger.
According to an MLB release, the opening contest has been moved up to Sunday April 5 and will be played at 7:05 p.m. CT.
The change was made to accommodate MLB’s Opening Night and an exclusive national television broadcast by ESPN.
It’s the third time the Cardinals have been selected to open the season, and the first since 2007 against the Mets (the previous time was 1994 against Cincinnati). It’s the first Opening Night in Wrigley Field history.
The broadcast will be on ESPN 2.
Because of the change, the new series schedule looks like this:
Sunday, April 5: 7:05 p.m.
Monday, April 6: OFF
Tuesday, April 7: 7:05 p.m.
Wednesday, April 8: 1:20 p.m.
