Truancy officer accused of selling drugs while at work

(KMOV.com) - Prosecutors allege a truant officer for the East St. Louis school district sold drugs while at work.
District officials said Kevin McCaster is on paid administrative leave after prosecutors charged him for official misconduct and dealing drugs. According to charging documents, McCaster sold cocaine to an undercover police officer within 1000 feet of Officer Elementary School.
District officials said he worked in the district for seven years in a high regarded position.
“Our truancy officers are a crucial part to the team. They are what is keeping the child in school when the child reaches as excessive amount of absences,” said Kimberly Roberson who works for the district.
McCaster is being held on a $50,000.00 bond in the St. Clair County jail.
