ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- A crime alert was sent to students and employees of SLU a week ago after two robberies were reported in the area.
According to St. Louis Police, two robberies occurred around 7 p.m. Thursday night near the Saint Louis University campus. The first incident took place near the 1000 block of Grand Ave. and the second near the 3600 block of Rutger St.
Both were incidents of armed robbery in which the victims were not affiliated with the University.
"Well it's scary. I've never heard of anything like that happening around here," said Luann Recker, who works nearby.
In both robberies, victims were approached by three African-American males, with one of the men displaying a weapon during the robberies.
Neither victim was injured in either incident.
According to police, the first victim described two of the suspects as wearing black hooded sweatshirts, while the third suspect was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.
"I did feel safe, now I'm on the watch all the time, constantly turning my back looking," said Stephanie Kalbouneh.
The suspects were last seen heading north on Spring Ave. away from the Medical Center. An investigation into the incidents is currently on-going.
