KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A cold system that blew into Missouri overnight has dropped temperatures from the balmy 70s into the 20s, with a light dusting of snow in some areas.
Slick spots caused by the temperature change led to some traffic headaches early Tuesday in Kansas City, with accidents along interstate highways. No fatalities or serious injuries were reported.
Interstate 70 in Odessa was briefly closed because of an accident and other backups were reported as rush hour traffic began.
The National Weather Service reported temperatures drops from 71 Monday to 28 early Tuesday in Chillicothe; 73 to 32 in Columbia; 74 to 34 in Jefferson City; 72 to 28 in downtown Kansas City; and 74 to 28 in Kirksville.
Wind chills hit single digits in some areas.
